The enterprise has no shortage of information about who is supposed to approve a decision. The problem is that an agent needs more than information about the formal structure.

Consider a pricing request. Policy says discounts above a threshold require a regional director. The CRM permission model reflects that rule. The workflow routes the request correctly. Yet the commercial team may still rely on a predecessor who is no longer formally recorded as the authority.

THE PRACTICAL SHIFT

Authority belongs in the context window.

For consequential actions, an agent should resolve the authority claim across the evidence available to it — not simply select the first matching role, document or permission.

BEFORE ACTION

Ask one more question.

Who?Which actor is exercising or granting authority?
What? What action and object are actually being decided?
Evidence?Do policy, process, systems and lived reality agree?
THE AGENT CHECK

Resolve before you act.

The point is not to make agents timid. It is to make the boundary between understanding and authorization explicit, inspectable and auditable.
